Live updates from volleyball state playoffs: Crosshill Christian, St. Paul win

Crosshill Christian’s volleyball swept Dufur 3-0 at home Saturday afternoon in the second round of the OSAA Class 1A state playoffs.

The No. 5 seed Eagles (18-2) advance the state tournament for the first time in school history with the win.

Crosshill Christian plays No. 4 seed Hosanna Christian at 8 a.m. Nov. 4 at Ridgeview High School in Redmond in the first round of the state tournament.

Also in the 1A state playoffs, No. 13 seed Willamette Valley Christian lost 25-21, 25-15, 25-27, 25-18 at Hosanna Christian.

In the 2A state playoffs, No. 7 seed St. Paul (16-9) swept Oakridge 25-21, 25-11, 25-23 to advance to the state tournament.

St. Paul next plays No. 2 seed at 3:15 p.m. Nov. 4 at Ridgeview.

No. 13 seed Delphian 25-16, 25-20, 25-19 to Bonanza and No. 15 seed Kennedy lost 25-12, 25-18, 25-22 at Grant Union.

In the 3A state playoffs, Salem Academy gave up a 2-1 lead in sets and fell in five sets to Burns in the OSAA Class 3A state playoffs.

The set scores were 25-21, 19-25, 12-25, 25-14, 15-11.

It was the second year in a row that No. 5 seed Salem Academy (21-5) was eliminated with a playoff loss at home.

No. 12 seed Burns (19-10) advances to the Nov. 4 first round of the OSAA Class 3A state tournament at Forest Grove High School.

Salem Academy junior Sydney Brown had 12 kills, seven blocks and two aces. Burns senior Lindsey Taylor had 18 kills.

Also in the 3A state playoffs, No. 8 seed Blanchet Catholic lost 25-23, 25-20, 12-25, 20-25, 15-11 at home to No. 9 seed Westside Christian.

No. 6 seed Santiam Christian swept Portland Christian 25-19, 25-15, 25-18 to advance to play Vale in the first round of the state tournament. No. 14 seed Dayton lost at No. 3 seed Vale 25-9, 25-19, 25-17. No. 15 seed Scio lost 25-8, 25-15, 25-8 at No. 2 seed Cascade Christian.

In the 5A state playoffs, No. 11 seed Silverton lost 25-15, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19 to No. 3 seed Summit and No. 12 Central was swept by No. 5 La Salle 25-16, 25-13, 25-18.

In the 4A state playoffs, No. 7 seed Cascade lost 3-2 to No. 10 seed Henley.

Cascade led 11-8 in the fifth set on a block by Cassie Smock, but Henley went on a 6-0 run including three consecutive kills by Jessica Northcutt, and won 15-11.

In the 6A state playoffs, No. 12 seed Sprague lost 25-20, 23-25, 25-16, 25-20 at Barlow.

No. 11 seed South Salem lost 25-23, 26-25, 21-25, 25-19 to No. 6 seed South Eugene.
