Blanchet's R.J. Veliz lives up to the hype

R.J. Veliz has established himself at a young age.

The 6-foot-1, sophomore point guard from Blanchet Catholic School draws the attention from opponents, but still scores in bunches.

He scored 15 points in Tuesday’s 47-33 win against Santiam Christian.

A.J. Farmer, Willamina boys basketball: The senior guard scored 18 points in Tuesday’s 58-33 win against Gervais.

Sydney Hunter, McNary girls basketball: The senior wing scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds in Tuesday’s 63-51 loss to Clackamas.

Sina Tapasa, Willamina girls basketball: The sophomore post scored 11 points in Tuesday’s 20-13 loss to Gervais.

Katie Tallon, Willamette Valley Christian girls basketball: The senior center scored 12 points in Tuesday’s 51-16 win against Oregon School for the Deaf.

Madison Hull, Western Mennonite girls basketball: The senior point guard scored 25 points, had 13 points and five steals in Saturday’s 58-30 loss to Salem Academy.
